Contemporary Powder Horns by Art DeCamp "For Sale":
Original Antique Horns and Horn Items.
Late Philadelphia Screw-tip Horn w/Dark Red Painted Butt: The Late Philadelphia horn is always a slim and graceful style. These circa 1790 to 1810 horns are always a fine and sophisticated appearing item. This horn has an internal screw tip with applied collar to reinforce the spout of the horn and provide a strap retention bulge on the spout end. The cherry wood stopper in the spout is taken from an original stoper found in one of these Late Philadelphia horns. The turned maple wood butt is painted dark red and has a cherry wood button that is friction fit to the tapered hole in the butt. This button is dark red also. The authentic design of this horn is taken from horns in Chapter 2 of my book "PA Horns of The Trade".
The horn measures approximately 11-1/4" across and 2-3/8" diameter at the butt. It has nice curve and twist. This horn can be carried on either side due to its strap attachment setup.
Price $370.00, plus $15.00 for postage.
Late Philadelphia Screw-tip Horn w/Dark Red Painted Butt:
North Carolina Flintlock Rifle with Banded Randolph County Horn & Bag Set - This set is an authentic looking aged rifle with hunting bag with repaired bullet hole in the pouch by Eric Fleisher. The bag is stitched from bark tanned cow hide and has a nice shoulder strap with handmade buckle. The powder horn is a banded Randolph County style North Carolina horn with three horn bands a turned wood butt and an applied two-piece tip made from antler at the spout. The horn is aged up to match the bag and shows "wear" and scratches on the front and back of the horn.
The walnut stocked iron mounted rifle is patterned after an original western North Carolina rifle and is a flintlock with a .40 caliber barrel. This aged and "improved" rifle by me is from a Kibler Southern Mountain rifle kit. The kit is enhanced with a sterling silver cheek inlay, an iron patch box, engraved lock, a toe plate and a front lock screw has been added. Also, butt and forestock moldings were carved and the poured pewter nose cap was added. The stock is aged to look as if it has been carried and handled.
Included in the bag is a curly maple .40 caliber loading block, a 55 grain antler measure by Spark Mumma, and a penny knife by Art DeCamp with walnut handle and an antique bullet mold for looks.
